The Lamp That Refused to Go Out

In a small village, there was a street lamp that stood at the corner of the market road. It was old and cracked, and many people said it should be replaced.

Every night, the lamp tried its best to shine, even though its light was weak.

One evening, a heavy rain fell. The wind blew hard, and the darkness became thick. The newer lamps on the road went out one by one.

But the old lamp stayed on.

A little boy walking home saw the light and followed it safely to his house. An old woman used the same light to find her lost walking stick. A tired trader rested under the lamp, thankful for the small glow.

When morning came, the villagers gathered.

“We were wrong,” they said. “This lamp may not be bright, but it never gives up.”

Instead of removing it, they cleaned it, fixed its cracks, and placed it at the center of the road.

Moral:

You don’t have to be the best to be useful. Consistency and effort matter more than perfection.
